The RSPB has been working tirelessly to secure simple but vital protections for wildlife within the Planning Infrastructure Bill. Despite their assurances, the Government has chosen not to include these measures directly in the legislation.
Without legal safeguards, there is little to prevent future changes of direction – leaving precious habitats vulnerable and allowing development even where it may cause irreversible harm.
